Seedbed cultivator

SANDOKAN is MASCHIO GASPARDO's spring tine cultivator. Designed to work at a shallow depth, finishing the seedbed and eliminating weeds prior to seeding. SANDOKAN comes in 13.1 to 19.7 ft widths and can be paired with tractors with a horsepower in the 120 to 190 range.

Strong and accurate

SANDOKAN comprises a fixed central section - made up of the frame, drawbar and wheels for trailing - and two side sections that can be folded for road travel.

In its semi-mounted folding version, SANDOKAN features a main frame that the modules carrying the tools are attached to. This solution was devised so as to be able to replace the tools easily to suit changing work and agronomic requirements.

The tools consist in gamma tines - arranged in 4 gangs - or delta tines in two gangs. The gamma tines, which have a straight profile and narrow tip, are less aggressive on soil, loosening the surface crust without excessive mixing to retain any moisture in the soil. The delta tines, which have a curved profile and wide tip, are suitable for working on different types of soil, are more aggressive and also prove effective in pulling out any weeds.

On the front, a levelling bar is fitted to intercept any large clods and bulky residue, and is followed by a cage roller that works by breaking up clods and levelling the soil.

Following the tools, there is a twin crosskill roller, which is aggressive on the remaining clods, and a levelling bar for final levelling.

Fine tilth

A fine tilth is created courtesy of the vibratory action of the spring tines, which have a wide range of motion afforded by the silent block system connecting the upper and lower frame. The spring tines work in conjunction with the front and rear crosskill rollers, which minimize clodding in the soil, leaving behind levelled soil ready for seeding.

Safe transport

Four powerful hydraulic cylinders quickly fold the frame for easy transport with an on-road width of just 3 metres.

Features may include:

SPRING TINES

There are two spring tine options:

  • “Gamma” tine: it is shaped to work the soil to a fine tilth without overturning the tilled layer. This trait means it retains the moisture in the seedbed and enables optimal germination even in water-poor conditions.
  • “Delta” tine: this type of solution involves minimal soil overturning, which is useful for controlling weeds that have emerged following primary tillage, or for incorporating crop residue into the tilled layer.
LEVELLING BAR

A front levelling bar prepares and levels soil ready for the spring tines to do their job next: the height of this element can be changed quickly with a pin system.

CROSSKILL ROLLER

This special roller, located behind the spring tines, has a toothed profile designed to finish the seedbed with an optimal tilth. The light compacting action on the ground gives the prepared soil all the properties it needs for perfect seed emergence.

REAR TRAILER

The machine features a rear trailer, with large 400/60-15.5 tyres, so that it can be taken on the road. During tillage, the wheels can be lifted up by a hydraulic circuit so as not to compact the newly prepared seedbed.
